New Orleans - Big Easy

After a great time in Austin and an interesting visit to San Antonio - I'll write more about that later - I've reached New Orleans. 40 degrees C in Texas is nothing to 30 degrees here, in Texas the air is dry, here it's so humid that it feels like a mini sauna.

And I love it.

Someone told me that New Orleans can be dangerous and I'm sure it can if you wobble around drunk and/or stupid in the wrong area, but so far I haven't had that feeling at all, instead people are open and friendly. As long as you keep a smile, that is. And an open mind.

It's hot, humid, vibrating, and yes, Bourbon Street, the tourist trap number one, is also full of strippers, ushers, big eyed tourists, and tricksters. For some reason I am always helped though and rarely have problems with the tricksters. Here they even came up to me and told me not to be on Bourbon Street, because of that reason: Its a tourist trap. No doubt. Still fun to watch though, if nothing else to see the reactions from fellow tourists. But I was told to go to another part of the area, where the locals go, and that's also what I did.

Travelling alone I have an easier time blending in, at least from a tourist perspective. In any other perspective I clearly don't blend in because I am getting a silly amount of attention. And I am going to enjoy it while I can, I love interacting with other people and as long as people want to chat, I'll chat.

And had I not been travelling alone, I wouldn't have met all the interesting characters I have met! I love to travel alone even though I have my moments of missing my food buddies!

I'm with you- LOVE N'awlins! My husband took me on a surprise honeymoon there because he knew it was a place I always wanted to visit. So beautiful, even in January! We loved the people, and I'm glad you did too. :) Stay safe on your travels! -Anouchka
