Facebook again

Luckily I already set Facebook up so that whenever someone tries to add information that will end up on my profile I'll have to approve it before it shows up. I always lock down FB quite a lot when there are changes coming in, until I know how it will work. Good habit.

Because today it turns out that someone tried to add information about which city I live in onto my profile. I have left that information out on purpose. I have left a lot of info out on purpose.

Had NO idea that others could add THAT kind of info onto your profile, but apparently. God knows what other info one can add.

It's not just annoying, it's also really rude to try and add info someone else obviously left out. The person who did so was a person I had been contemplating disconnecting from for a while. It's someone I don't know that well, but it felt strange to disconnect, we have common friends. But now I disconnected. Call me silly but really, this makes me really uncomfortable.

Go in and lock down your own profiles if you don't want others to dictate what you have on your profile.
I really think Facebook lost it this time.

I'll keep the account for invitations etc but will most likely stop using it actively.

I really don't like this. But how do you stop it? I can't find a setting for it...

Well, it seems you can't stop it, but what you can do is turn on the preview of posts where you are tagged. If you turn on the preview you'll see when someone tries to add you to somewhere and can stop it. But I agree, I really don't like it either!
